Tuskegee University is a private HBCU founded in 1881 by Booker T. Washington in Tuskegee, Alabama — a National Historic Landmark and one of the most historically significant institutions in American history. Tuskegee is home to the Tuskegee Airmen — America’s first Black military aviators who trained here during World War II — and George Washington Carver conducted his legendary agricultural research on its campus. Tuskegee is the only HBCU in the US with an accredited College of Veterinary Medicine.
