Lehman College is a public liberal arts college of the City University of New York (CUNY), founded in 1968 as an independent college (previously a branch of Hunter College since 1931), located in the Bedford Park neighborhood of the Bronx. Named after former New York Governor Herbert H. Lehman, the college is the only public four-year college in the Bronx and serves a predominantly minority and first-generation college student population. Lehman enrolls approximately 14,000 students.
