Bethune-Cookman University is a private HBCU founded in 1904 by the legendary educator Mary McLeod Bethune in Daytona Beach, Florida. One of Florida’s two private HBCUs, BCU enrolls 3,000 students and is affiliated with the United Methodist Church. The university is named after its founder, a nationally celebrated civil rights leader and advisor to President Franklin D. Roosevelt.
