California State University Maritime Academy (Cal Maritime) is the only accredited maritime academy on the West Coast of the United States, founded in 1929 in Vallejo, California. Cal Maritime is a highly selective, specialized university offering engineering, business, and transportation programs with a strong emphasis on maritime careers. All students participate in mandatory sea training aboard the Training Ship Golden Bear. The university enrolls approximately 1,000 students.
