The CUNY School of Medicine (formerly the Sophie Davis Biomedical Education Program) at The City College of New York is the only publicly funded medical school in New York City, founded in 1973. It offers a unique 8-year BS/MD combined degree program specifically designed to produce primary care physicians committed to serving medically underserved communities. Graduates receive their MD from the New York Medical College. The school also offers an MS in Physician Assistant Studies.
