North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University (NC A&T) is a public HBCU founded in 1891 in Greensboro. The largest HBCU in the United States, NC A&T enrolls 13,000 students and is the #1 producer of African American engineers in the US — a distinction it has held for over 30 consecutive years. Four NC A&T students — Ezell Blair Jr., David Richmond, Franklin McCain, and Joseph McNeil — staged the historic Greensboro Sit-In on February 1, 1960, igniting the civil rights movement.
